Within the framework of the memorandum of understanding concluded between the Secretariat General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC, represented by the Patent Office) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a delegation of WIPO experts made a business visit to the Patent Office at the Secretariat General during the period 1 - 5 October 2023, during which they worked with the specialists in the office to complete a number of procedures and technical updates, which, thanks to God, lead the office to launch the WIPO Publish System, dedicated for electronic publishing of patent applications in accordance with the international standards applied at the World Intellectual Property Organization and a number of advanced patent offices around the world, of which is ST. 36 standard.
It is noteworthy that this specialized system achieves a number of goals, including facilitating the process of exchanging published patents' data and documents with patent offices in the Cooperation Council (GCC) states and other countries, including applications filed with the International Bureau (IB) of the World Intellectual Property Organization under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), in addition to what this system provides of advanced searching in international patent applications and obtaining their bibliographic data in both Arabic and English languages.
His Excellency the Director General of the Office and a number of directors and specialists in the Office participated in the system launching process, in addition to WIPO experts present at the Office and at the Organization’s headquarters in Geneva via video communication technology.
