[54] COMPUTATIONAL METHOD FOR SIZING THREE-PHASE SEPARATORS
[57] Abstract: A method and software for sizing three-phase separators utilizing an iterative approach is provided. The proposed computational method for sizing three-phase separators uses an iterative technique that calculates the optimum vessel dimensions for each service over a range of length to diameter ratios. The method starts with the smallest vessel dimension depending on the service and the selected vessel type and then tries to satisfy all the requirements for vapor/liquid and liquid/liquid separation. The vessel dimensions, i.e., length and diameter, are incrementally changed until all the requirements are met. The method and software are not restricted to any fixed value for the length to diameter ratio. The method and software select the smallest sized three-phase separator required for each service.
